Actor Namkoong Min Opens Up About His 8-Year Relationship with Wife Jin A Reum

Actor Namkoong Min, known for his versatility and dedication to his craft, has been making waves in the Korean entertainment industry for years. His personal life, however, has been just as captivating, especially when it comes to his relationship with actress wife Jin A Reum. In a recent interview on KBS 2TV's Problem Child in House, Namkoong Min shared the full story of how he met his now-wife, revealing that she turned him down twice before their eight-year relationship finally began.

The actor's confession began with a meeting at an audition for the short film Light My Fire in 2015. At the time, Jin A Reum was one of several actresses who auditioned for the project, but Namkoong Min admitted that she immediately stood out to him. Although other staff members apparently had different opinions, he personally liked her the most. In hindsight, he jokingly said that his judgment may not have been entirely professional.

Nothing romantic happened during filming, which was completed in just two days due to a limited production budget. Their connection began afterward through one of Namkoong Min's friends, who also happened to be Jin A Reum’s acting instructor. The friend helped them exchange contact information and arranged a casual meeting for the three of them.

Once Namkoong Min got to know her away from the set, he became even more interested in Jin A Reum. He described her as exceptionally kind and sincere, saying that her personality convinced him to make a serious attempt to win her over. Unfortunately, his first attempt did not go particularly well. Admitting to being drunk at the time, Namkoong Min confessed to asking Jin A Reum, “Do you want to date?” He later realized that the confession had sounded far too casual and came without enough warning.
